On the morning of August 6, over 150 peace advocates rallied in the shadow of the Livermore Nuclear Weapons Laboratory in northern California to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 53rd anniversary of the United States atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The theme of this year's Aug. 6 protest was, "A World Without Weapons is A Universal Right."

Following the rally, the group processed with signs and banners to the Lab's main gate, and in groups of eight, some attempted to enter. Before being arrested, each group read aloud from a statement commemorating these anniversaries of past events that decimated or asserted human rights. Citations for blocking traffic were issued to 56 people, who were then released about an hour later.
